Tips before Moving Home:
Relocation is a step by step process, be it from house to house, corner to corner or overseas. Work out your time frame for house moving. Decide on the pick up time, and date for the moving company to pick up and move your stuff. Work out the distance and plan out your approximate budget and start working backwards. Once you have decided to move, AVL Moving Systems is there to help you sail through the process smoothly. So think moving and think AVL Moving Systems.
At AVL Systems we know the stress and the apprehensions that go with the process of moving from one place to another. Hence we
Moving can be very stressful, especially when youve been living in the same area for a number of years; its amazing just how much junk you can accumulate. But now is the time to clean up. We at AVL Moving Systems, help in making your move easy, cost effective and less stressful.
AVL Moving Systems provides some widely known but hardly followed tips to help in moving:
Throw out any old papers, magazines, books and old toys that havent been used for over a year before you start packing for your move.
Boxes: Getting boxes is the real commitment to moving. You may have signed a lease or mortgage, but until you get the boxes, you are really not moving. The best places for boxes are small clothing stores and fruit and vegetable packers. For $1 a piece you can get brand new strong boxes that are perfect for books, dishes and other heavy stuff. Get few more boxes than you think you might need for your move.
Rubbish Removing: Holding a garage sale before you move might not only fetch you the money needed for the move, it could also help in moving lesser items. If you have anything an antiques dealer might be interested in, call them and have them stop by. For those moving from a house, a small four-yard container (dumps) that is emptied at least once a week for a term of a month should work out nicely.
Initial Packing: Start with books, records and video tapes. In the kitchen, leave out a couple of pots, pans and other basic utensils till the day you move so that you can cook till the day you leave. Else buy cheap disposable plastic cups and dishes that can be discarded after the last meal in that home.
Label everything in big letters. If you are moving to another country, make 3 copies of packing lists. One goes inside the box, one for customs and one for you. You can also stick colours on the boxes to co ordinate with the room colour so that it would be easy both for you and the movers to place the boxes in their right places.
If you have older kids at home, you can get them to help around with the packing. And they can pack their own stuff too. Pack infant nappies and baby food last because you may never know what you might suddenly need.
In each box stuff clothing like underwear, socks, stockings in all corners to avoid rattling and breaking. You dont want all your precious vases and porcelain broken when you move into your new house.
Wrap all liquids in at least 2 plastic bags with sticky tape round the necks of the bottles so that you dont find your clothes all messy after you move.
All our AVL Moving System Drivers are quite aware of the routes but it is better to inform the driver of the place. It might not only save time from getting lost while you move but also saves dollars in your pocket.
